Well, if the five people who joined today are actually different people, and are actually looking to post then this is great news for our community, I've noticed that activity is slowly growing around here, anyways, welcome to all the newcomers, Angel is online as I type this, and Ms (?) Winslet was on earlier, so yeah, welcome!

Cheers!

I just noticed myself and had a look at the members' list. Numbers 110 through 112 have strange names, nothing in their profiles, and have joined within nine minutes of each other, so I'm a little wary of some kind of automatized invasion or, worse, even a hacker attack.

Let's hope not.

Indeed, though perhaps they just weren't happy with their names?

Atleast two of them are atleaqst visiting the boards, and as I said A.Winslet has posted.

Cheers!

Another new member -- that's six within just five hours, four of them with completely random nondescript names. I am worried.

Maybe the forum should be closed to new registrations for two or three days?

Damn I hate SPAM, perhaps a nice Sigh out front "Hackers and Spammers WILL be shot!" will keep the pests away. Least it seems to working with the Looters over here in the fires.

Just checking over the newcomers, only Audrey Winslet the poster of the Obama message has put anything in her profile, I don't know if Spambots do that yet?

One of the newcomer's username is aadsfda or somthing, which is the four keys your left hand should rest on, which makes me think it was just smashed in as someone was making most likely a spambot.

I don't know about you guys but ususually when I'm online there is atleast one other "registered user" online, but where the names are listed it simply says GoogleBot or YahooBot, I don't know exactly what these are, but thought I'd point them out.

Cheers!

The anti-spam mod I have installed here has done wonders -- it is a great performer. On other forums I've had ten or twenty registrations a day from spammers -- bot programs that do nothing but register. You can see the cumulative effect on the old TRoS forum -- and that site had Admin verification of new users.

I've killed off the odd new members -- if any are real people they are welcome to re-register.

I also deleted the political soapbox thread.

Regards,

Cool, I got on here and just noticed yet another new member, but atleaqst this none has a normal handle (Blizzard) hopeful he/she is a real member and interested in this great game of ours called TRoS!

Cheers!

I am indeed a real person, thanks for the welcome. I tried unsuccessfully to register a few times in the past few days (thanks Ian for manually creating my account), but I'm here now.

Last summer in frustration with a mediocre session of DnD (in which my group of 7 players just destroyed the main villain of an encounter), I began looking in earnest for an alternative RPG. Like most, I discovered RoS through a review of it's combat system. The combat in DnD was what I most disliked.

After a few sessions my group has mixed reactions, a 2 love the system, 2 ambivalent, and 1 has no interest in learning a new system (our group plays about two or three times a year, and it seems every third session there's a new version of DnD). One person moved away but a new person has started playing.

I'm still truly enjoying the system, it's never been so easy to create scenarios and we've had the best 'roleplaying' (as opposed to OoC jokes, reminiscing, et cetera) experiences yet. Players have a much easier time relating to the characters.

I won't go on in detail, I might post a play report in another thread, just wanted to say hi, thanks for the welcome, look forward to contributing to the discussions.

Great to have you aboard Blizzard, as an ex-D&Der myself I can relate very well to the OoC joking reminiscing etc, that goes on at a D&D table, I completely agree that TRoS seems to help drive play and creates great scenarios in a way that the players can trully relate to their PCs, but hey, that's why we all love this game.

Cya around!
