I would be open to a proper TROS 2E outside of this, sure. But (A) not my place and (B) I don't really have that much time for writing games anymore.

Mostly I'm looking forward to what these successor games look like.

I know George owns TRoS now, but I assumed at one point Jake and George were friends, probably still are and they would be able to work something out for a TRoS 2E. Assumptions can be wrong though. :P

I'm looking forward to your new game, these successor games and TRoS 2E!

It's not a friends/not friends thing at all...we just haven't been in contact in years, and I haven't had any success in reaching out.

But that's okay. TROS is TROS, wonder and warts and all. :)

I'm proud of it, but I'm also really happy to be working on something different. TROS 2E isn't the game I want to write right now. I already wrote TROS. Some of it was great, some of it showed how truly green I was as a designer. I love the idea of a 2E, but that's another time and another place.

Can I be a playtester?
Maybe. BWHQ has a time-tested and fairly strict, businesslike way of doing things.

What does this exactly mean? I for one would be glad to to prepay for a copy to beta test it.

It means that we've got several groups of playtesters who have already signed NDA's, etc., and are familiar with bwhq's requirements for feedback, etc.

But we won't forget about some of the folks around here.

Looking forward to seeing the game! I'm currently running the Great Pendragon Campaign, by the time I am done, your game will hopefully be out :) I will definitely be ready for a change!

P.S. You signed my copy of TRoS at Gencon this year, thanks! And thanks for introducing me to the world of WMA.

And that was the deal.

I need to know nothing more. Jake, you've just made my day. :)

Is there any chance this could, in time, lead to a hard-core combat add-on for BW?

As you'd expect there is quite a deal of crossover between the fans of both games, at least from a TRoS perspective. Most participants on this forum have at least looked at BW and there are many threads here discussing the porting of rules between the systems. Dare I say it, from a Tros fan's point of view BW would be just awesome if it had a manoeuvre-driven combat system that was like TRoS.

I've considered it a bunch in the past. Tony Hamilton (aka Durgil) actually wrote one (sort of) back in the day, called "Fighting Steel," which you can download on the Burning Wiki.

Given how tightly designed a lot of the interaction is between skills, attributes, etc., in BW, I don't think it would be too tough.

But I'm not trying it, either. :P
