As it seems this schism has dumbfounded everyone and stopped all progress dead in its tracks, I suggest a few actions to get ourselves organised:

1) First off, it's clear that the version of EoS stemming from my pre-alpha has diverged into the "dumbed-down and simplistic" area.
2) To avoid any confusion in the midst of the more sporadic visitors of our forum, who might take that version as the general direction of the whole community, I suggest that all post-pre-alpha threads should be moved into a separate subforum.
3) Let's call this subforum "Swords & Snakes" as a working title.

P.S.
The abbreviation of SS is to be pronounced like a snake! That means [ssh] not [es-es].

I'll get on to that as soon as I can.

Thanks!

But let's call the subforum "Quest for the Riddle" instead. Makes more sense. :)

Oh names. The most annoying part of any project.

This is an update in response to those who have PM'd and inquired:

Development on Blade of the Iron Throne is going well, with four of the six "Books" (if using TroS Core Rules as a comparison) completed. We are lavishing great care on Combat and Sorcery, so that these areas will be satisfying to all.

Time-wise we are actually ahead of our development schedule so that's a plus. Well, that's the update!

I think it's kind of funny to post an update about a successor game on a thread that's titled "Multiple Successor Games -- Surely Not". Still, glad to hear it's going well for you.

Wow I haven't spoken my peace in a long time!

I am glad to see that the system is splintering, as long as everyone keeps updated on each others project. I think it gives everyone the ability to study the ideas present and craft their own form of EOS as they want it!

PbJ I am excited to read your book Blades of the Iron Throne! it sounds very interesting. I don't know my opinion on d12s but I'm always glad to read on it and see how it feels!

@Seanachai - oh, the irony!

@DragonClan - Thank you for your interest! We certainly hope that the final product will please the community, and are working hard to produce a book that will knock your socks off!

Hi Iorwerth!

The PDF will certainly be free, and the full-color, hardbound copy from Lulu will be sold at cost.

Regards,

Phil

Hi pbj! :)

Can you explain in a few words what are the key points/features of your new game? In all this chaos I couldn't understand anything at all, except for d12 use. Thanks!

When are you planning to release a pdf version of core rules by the way? :)

Hi Hayden!

Pasted from an earlier post on this thread:

1) Classic Sword and Sorcery theme
2) D12 based
3) Attribute/Skill range of 1-8
4) Fixed Tn
5) Book will be full color
6) Great Sword and Sorcery artwork
7) PDF will be free, Hard Copy from Lulu at cost
8) Page count will be about the same as TroS

To the above I can add that Blade of the Iron Throne's magic system captures the flavor of classic Sword & Sorcery fiction, so fans of REH or CAS will be delighted we think!

We are ahead of schedule and in my mind will easily beat our deadline of late August/early September, but I will hold to that delivery time for the pdf. We are enjoying crafting the book at a relaxed pace and I think ultimately the work will be the better for it.

Regards,

Phil

Sounds great.
It might fit well with my Conan game currently running.

Hi Allan!

Blade should be a great fit for your Conan game as it was designed from the ground up to support just such a campaign!

We will also be including an introductory Blade adventure to help kickstart a great Sword & Sorcery session!

Phil
